Colombo (News 1st): The Essential Food Commodities Importers & Traders Association has assured that essential commodities are available in sufficient quantities for the upcoming festive season.
It's Chairman Ganesh Vinayagasundaram stated that prices of staple goods such as lentils, rice, sugar, wheat flour, and onions have decreased due to lower global market prices.
Speaking to the media, Vinayagasundaram said that the country has adequate stocks of essential commodities to last until Vesak, and there is no cause for concern.
He added that a shipment of 500 metric tons of Samba rice from Tuticorin, India, is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka today, further bolstering the country's rice reserves.
