COLOMBO (News 1st): The Government of Sri Lanka is considering issuing a special permit system to provide the required fuel quotas requested by large- and medium-scale industrialists.
Industry owners have pointed out that the current fuel allocations are insufficient to sustain their operations.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, stated that the Ministry is working in coordination with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to supply the required fuel for large- and medium-scale industries, and the required fuel quantities for these industries have already been submitted to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
According to the Deputy Minister, around 2,300 industrialists have so far requested the Ministry of Industry to increase their fuel quotas.
He added that small and micro-scale businesses have been facilitated to obtain their required fuel quotas by submitting details of their previous fuel consumption to their respective Divisional Secretariat offices.
