Governement Faces Losses Amid Controlled Fuel Pricing

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says that the government incurs a loss of Rs. 204 on every litre of diesel sold.

Chairman of CPC D.A. Rajakaruna, says that the government incurs a loss of Rs. 32 per litre of petrol.

According to the Chairman, a litre of Diesel should have been priced at Rs. 586.56. However with the current price of Rs.382, a loss of Rs.204.56 is being incurred by the government per litre of Diesel. 

According to the Chairman, one litre of Petrol should have been priced at Rs. 430. However with the current price of Rs.398 a loss of Rs. 32.72 is being incurred by the government per litre of Petrol. 

Chairman D.A Rajakaruna further said that diesel may have to be used for electricity generation in the future.

Meanwhile, CPC says that the increase in the fuel quota is in place aimed at reducing consumption.

With the QR code in place, the economic activities will be carried out smoothly while controlling consumption of fuel, with no hassle for fuel queues.
