COLOMBO (News 1st): Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne stated that solutions have now been implemented to address technical problems that arose with the QR code system, which was reimplemented for fuel distribution across the island.

He explained that previous issues on the system, related to vehicle ownership transfers and mobile phone numbers, have been resolved.

The system for removing vehicles has also been made more structured, allowing previous owners of vehicles to remove those vehicles from their accounts efficiently.

The Deputy Minister added that once a vehicle is removed from the previous owner’s account, it can then be registered by the new owner without complications.

In addition, training programs for fuel station staff and owners on the QR code system are currently underway to ensure smooth operations.

Deputy Minister Weeraratne urged the public not to spread unnecessary panic about fuel shortages or create misinformation regarding the system.

He also called on citizens to fully cooperate with the government’s newly implemented, structured management process.
