COLOMBO (News 1st); A
striking video of former U.S. President Barack Obama
has ignited widespread discussion across social media platforms. In the clip, Obama declares:
"It’s fair to say that 80% of the world’s problems involve old men hanging on, who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won’t let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it."
The video, originally recorded at “An Evening With President Obama” at London’s O2 Arena on September 24, 2025, resurfaced online in March 2026 after first circulating in late September 2025. During the event, Obama engaged in a wide-ranging dialogue with British historian David Olusoga, reflecting on themes from his memoir A Promised Land.
The clip has proven magnetic on social media: one post on X (formerly Twitter) amassed nearly 3 million views, while versions on YouTube and Threads also drew significant attention.
