Sri Lanka to Phase Out CESS on Imported Goods

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Cabinet has approved a proposal to phase out the CESS imposed on imported goods over a four-year period from 2026 to 2029.

The Cabinet paper was presented by the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies.

According to the approval granted, the CESS currently applied under 2,634 identified Harmonized System (HS) codes will be removed in stages during the four‑year period.
