Air Pollution Levels Rise in Several Areas - NBRO

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Building Research Organization says air pollution levels have increased again in several parts of Sri Lanka. 

Senior Scientist of the Air Pollution Management Unit, Sarath Premasiri,said prevailing wind patterns and air pollution conditions in other South Asian countries have contributed to the situation.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) rose in several areas of the Colombo district, with Kotte recording 127 units. 

The normal AQI level should be below 50. 

Air pollution levels were also recorded at 76 units in Anuradhapura, 71 units in Dambulla, and 69 units in Galle. 

Premasiri further noted that air quality has declined today in the districts of Badulla, Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Kegalle, and Polonnaruwa.
