COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is set to welcome the New Zealand Under 85kg for a two-match International tour in April and May 2026, with fixtures scheduled in Colombo on 25 April and Kandy on 3 May. The tour promises to bring high-level rugby action to local fans and strengthen ties between the two nations.
The series builds on the success of the 2025 tour, which drew large crowds and sparked renewed interest in rugby across Sri Lanka. Fans can expect another competitive challenge as the Sri Lanka national side faces the Under-85kg New Zealand squad, known for its skill, discipline, and passion for the game.
Ben Sinnamon, Head Coach of the New Zealand team, highlighted the value of touring internationally. “Playing in Sri Lanka will test our players in different conditions and offer them the chance to grow as a team while representing New Zealand overseas,” he said.
The tour is also expected to contribute to the growth of rugby in Sri Lanka, with strong engagement from schools, clubs, and local communities. Ben Tinnelly, New Zealand Rugby Under-85kg Tour Campaign Manager, noted that the series continues to strengthen connections between the two countries through sport.
