Police Probe Scam Calls Targeting Hotels and Businesses

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into organised groups posing as senior police officers and making fraudulent phone calls to tourist hotels and private establishments in the Colombo area.

According to police, the callers contact these institutions claiming to be senior officers and request food items and money, allegedly for various events. Investigations have uncovered information confirming the fraudulent nature of these calls.

Police have advised the public and businesses not to fall victim to such scams carried out by individuals or groups impersonating high‑ranking officers.

They have also requested the public to report any information related to these groups or individuals by calling 071 859 15 15.
