COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development has decided to introduce changes to the current business registration process.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe emphasized that registering a business at present is a highly complex procedure and therefore, applicants are required to submit various documents to Divisional Secretariat offices for the relevant procedure.
The Deputy Minister further noted that different Divisional Secretariats follow different procedures when registering businesses, which creates inconsistencies. Therefore, he highlighted the numerous difficulties often faced by individuals seeking to start a business, as a result of such inconsistencies.
Accordingly, Deputy Minister Abeysinghe highlighted that steps are being taken to establish a standardized registration process, which is expected to be introduced in March.
