Lawyers Withdraw From Courts Islandwide

COLOMBO(News 1st); All lawyers have decided to withdraw from court proceedings across the island today.

This is to demand the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting and killing of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda.

The President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Rajeev Amarasuriya, said that they are requesting the government to conduct an urgent investigation into the incident.

Our News 1st correspondents reported that lawyers did not participate in court proceedings in several areas today.
