Death Sentence for Three After 18-Year Trial in Kalutara Murder Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Kalutara High Court today sentenced three individuals to death, after they were found guilty of committing murder.

The ruling comes following an 18-year-long trial.

According to the indictment, the Attorney General had filed charges against the suspects for the killing of Chaminda Kumara, a resident of Littleton Watta, Kudawasakaduwa. He was fatally stabbed with a knife on October 23, 2008, or on a nearby date, during an incident that occurred at a funeral house in Wasakadua.

The death sentence was delivered by Kalutara High Court Judge Tamara Tennakoon.
