Minor Earthquake of Magnitude 3.6 Reported In the Mullaitivu Sea

COLOMBO (News 1st) -The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau says that a minor earthquake has occurred in the Mullaitivu sea area.

The Bureau stated that its intensity was magnitude 3.6.

The earthquake was recorded at all seismic monitoring stations in the country.

Our News 1st correspondent says that its impact was felt in several areas, including Horowpathana.

The Meteorology Department stated that there is no tsunami risk as a result of this.

Meanwhile, the earthquake has also been recorded in the global seismic index of Volcano Discovery.

The website reported that the earthquake occurred in the Bay of Bengal, about 68 kilometres off the coast of Trincomalee.
