Diplomats Donate Their Own Salaries: Rs 3.6 Million Raised for Sri Lanka Flood Relief

COLOMBO (News 1st); The diplomatic corps residing in Sri Lanka have privately donated their salaries, collectively contributing Rs 3.6 million to support Sri Lankans facing hardship following the natural disasters caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The donation was formally handed over to Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath on Thursday (11) by Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Sri Lanka, alongside fellow diplomats from Maldives, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland, Palestine, and Oman. This private, salary-based donation highlights a deeply personal commitment to the Sri Lankan people, transcending official diplomatic duties.
