COLOMBO (News 1st): The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has achieved its highest-ever tax revenue collection for the year 2025, marking a historic milestone in the country’s fiscal performance.
As of November 17, 2025, total revenue collections reached approximately Rs. 2,002,241 million (Rs. 2.002 trillion).
This represents an increase of Rs. 60,079 million compared to the total revenue collected in 2024, which stood at Rs. 1,942,162 million.
The IRD says this achievement reflects a substantial contribution toward strengthening the Government’s financial position within the first eleven months of the year.
Commissioner General Rukdee P. H. Fernando extended gratitude to taxpayers for fulfilling their obligations and to officials of state and private institutions for their cooperation and dedication in achieving this milestone.
