Sister of Slain Crime Kingpin Gunned Down in Turf War

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have uncovered a motorbike suspected to have been used in a fatal shooting in Galle’s Meetiyagoda area, abandoned in the Ampagama region of Baddegama.

The chilling discovery follows a violent attack that claimed the life of a 48-year-old woman late last night.

Investigators revealed that the victim was the sister of notorious organized crime figure Mahadura Nalin, who himself was gunned down in May this year. 

Authorities believe the killing is the latest escalation in a bitter turf war between two rival underworld factions.

According to Police Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent F.U. Wootler, preliminary investigations suggest the woman was involved in narcotics trafficking and was targeted while operating at a liquor outlet.

Two assailants on a motorbike reportedly opened fire using a 9mm pistol before fleeing the scene.

Police have deployed three specialized teams to pursue leads and track down the perpetrators.
