COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Anura Kumara Dissanayake has called for an urgent report from Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne regarding the controversial incident in Trincomalee where police allegedly attempted to remove a Buddha statue.
The President made this announcement while addressing Parliament this evening.
The controversy centers on a land parcel belonging to Sri Sambuddhatva Jayanthi Bodhiraja Vihara, located along Kotuwa Road, adjacent to Trincomalee’s picturesque beach.
In recent days, a temporary structure was erected on this land, and a Buddha statue was placed there—sparking heated debate and escalating tensions.
