YouTube Critic of Sri Lankan Government Faces Thai Court

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan social media activist Saliya Ranawaka, who was recently arrested in Thailand, is now facing legal proceedings in a Thai court, according to police sources.

Ranawaka was apprehended by Interpol in Thailand under a Red Notice issued by Sri Lankan authorities. 

His arrest follows a series of controversial videos released on YouTube, which allegedly contained defamatory remarks against the Sri Lankan government.

Police stated that the legal action in Thailand was initiated due to Ranawaka’s refusal to return to Sri Lanka voluntarily.
