Government To Recover Misused Fertilizer Subsidies

COLOMBO(News 1st); Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne says that a decision has been made to recover money from farmers who fail to cultivate their lands after receiving fertilizer subsidies.

The Deputy Minister said that the money will be deducted from farmers when providing the subsidy for the next season.

He further stated that an amount of fifty thousand rupees is currently given as a fertilizer subsidy for two hectares.

The Deputy Minister also mentioned that a subsidy of thirty thousand rupees will be given for two hectares to farmers who grow intercrops on paddy lands.
