Prime Minister meets with representatives of the Indian Chambers of Commerce in New Delhi

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met with representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi during her first official visit to India as Prime Minister.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and exploring opportunities for collaboration across key sectors including energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, fintech, AI-driven business development, skilling and innovation, wellness tourism, fertilizer production, and port development.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Dr. Amarasuriya highlighted Sri Lanka’s commitment to advancing an inclusive and knowledge-driven economy through education reform, digital transformation, and skill development initiatives. 

The Prime Minister invited Indian businesses to expand their engagement in Sri Lanka, particularly in areas of manufacturing, infrastructure, education technology, and renewable energy, and proposed collaboration in AI and innovation hubs, vocational training partnerships, and EdTech-based learning models.
