Over 700 Arrested In Island-Wide Crime And Drug Prevention Operation

COLOMBO (News 1st): An island-wide crime and drug prevention operation carried out yesterday led to the arrest of 714 individuals.
Police say, 28,372 individuals were inspected during the operation.
Among them, 19 were directly linked to crimes.
In addition, 253 individuals with day warrants and 185 with open warrants were taken into custody.
The operation also saw 38 drunk drivers and 23 reckless drivers taken into custody, while 4,495 others were identified for various traffic offenses.
The operation was carried out on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police.
