CID Probes YouTuber Over Pre-Arrest Claim on Ranil

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an inquiry into a controversial statement made by a social media activist prior to the arrest of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The investigation, initiated under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, centers around a video published on YouTube by activist Sudath Tilakasiri, who claimed that Wickremesinghe would be arrested when he arrived to give a statement to the CID.

A group of professionals recently filed a formal complaint with the CID, prompting the current investigation.
