Grenade Attack on STF Ends in Fatal Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect has been fatally shot during a tense confrontation with the Police Special Task Force (STF) in Suriyawewa, police confirmed.

According to official sources, a team of STF officers conducted a late-night raid on a residence in the area. During the operation, a man at the location allegedly launched a grenade attack targeting the officers.

In response, STF personnel opened fire, resulting in the death of the suspect. One STF officer was injured in the explosion, and is currently receiving medical treatment.
