Bill To Abolish MPs’ Pensions To Be Presented To Cabinet Next Week

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs announced that the Bill to abolish the pensions of Members of Parliament will be presented to the Cabinet next week.

The Bill, drafted by the Ministry of Justice, has been forwarded to the Attorney General for review.

This move is in line with an election pledge made by the current government.

The Ministry further stated that the issuance of vehicle permits to Members of Parliament has already been suspended.
