COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed a Special Presidential Investigation Committee to probe allegations of fraud, corruption, and irregularities within SriLankan Airlines Limited, and Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited.
The committee met with the President at the Presidential Secretariat, where he engaged in a detailed discussion with its members.
The committee is convened by Additional Secretary to the President, K.N.M. Kumarasinghe, and includes the following members:
H.M. Gamini Wijesinghe – Retired Auditor General
Gnanasiri Senanayake – Retired Additional Director General of Customs
Dushyantha Basnayake – Chairman, National Savings Bank
Don Chaminda J. Athukorala – Attorney-at-Law
N.A.H.K. Wijerathna – Additional Director General, Department of Public Enterprises
During the meeting, the President emphasized that the lack of proper investigations into past misconduct has led to significant inefficiencies within these institutions.
He instructed the committee to conduct a swift and thorough investigation, review all submitted evidence, and present a comprehensive report including recommendations and guidelines to rectify the current situation and prevent future occurrences.
