Death Penalty in 2006 Polonnaruwa Murder Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Polonnaruwa High Court has sentenced four individuals to death in connection with a brutal murder that took place in 2006. 

The verdict was delivered by High Court Judge Ruchira Weliwatta.

The convicted individuals, aged 64, 42, 37, and 49, are residents of Unagalavehera, Hingurakgoda. 

They were found guilty of assaulting and killing a man who had gone to guard a paddy field. 

The incident, which shocked the local community, involved six assailants, two of whom have since passed away.
