Gun Attack on NPP Politician’s House in Weligama

COLOMBO (News 1st); An early morning gun attack targeting the residence of National People's Power (NPP) local councilor and attorney-at-law Taraka Nanayakkara has prompted a police investigation in Weligama.

The incident occurred at Nanayakkara’s home in Malimbada, Weligama, where two unidentified individuals arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire. Police officers assigned to the residence responded with retaliatory gunfire.

According to police sources, the attackers are believed to have used a pistol-type firearm. No injuries were reported in the incident.

A team from the Weligama Police, including crime scene investigators, has launched a full-scale investigation into the shooting. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering forensic evidence from the scene.
