COLOMBO (News 1st); The Bohra religious community’s international convention and exhibition officially commenced today at the Exhibition and Convention Centre on D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Fort, Colombo.
The event, which will run until July 5, is expected to draw significant participation from both local and international members of the Bohra community.
In light of the large-scale gathering, Sri Lanka Police has announced a series of traffic restrictions to ensure public safety and smooth operations.
From June 27 to July 5, heavy vehicles including container trucks and tipper trucks carrying sand and gravel will be restricted from entering Maradana’s Darley Road, Gamini Roundabout, and D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily.
Additionally, the Bambalapitiya Bohra Muslim Mosque will host sessions of the convention during the same period.
On these days, traffic restrictions will apply from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Movement of heavy vehicles will be limited along Marine Drive between Wellawatte and Kollupitiya, in both directions.
Police further announced that vehicle access to Glen Arbor area within the Bambalapitiya Police Division will be restricted, and entry to Adimale area will be permitted only for residents during the event hours.
