NEC Awaits Names of 200 Elected Local Government Members

COLOMBO (News 1st) -

The Election Commission says it has yet to receive the names of nearly 200 individuals elected to local government institutions.

Chairman of the Commission R.M.A.L. Rathnayake said that political parties and independent groups have been reminded once again to submit the names without delay.

Meanwhile, the names of 17 elected members that were received have been published in the Government Gazette as of yesterday.

In the local government elections held on the 6th of May, the National People's Power secured a majority of seats across local authorities.
