Yoshitha Rajapaksa Surrenders a Total of 7 Firearms to Defence Ministry

The Ministry of Defence says that information regarding 180 firearms issued to civilians has not been presented for the audit conducted.

The Ministry further says that legal action will be taken through court orders, against license holders who have not submitted the required details of their firearms.

Meanwhile, Yoshitha Rajapaksa has handed over a total of 7 firearms that he possessed to the Ministry of Defence.

According to the Ministry's Media Director, Colonel Nalin Herath, two firearms that were not surrendered earlier were handed over yesterday.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa had previously surrendered only five firearms in line with the government's firearm handover initiative.

The audit into the firearms was concluded on the 21st of January, and Rajapaksa had handed over the remaining two firearms to the Ministry of Defence thereafter.
