US Stresses Importance of Transparent Business Environment

COLOMBO (News 1st); United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung has commended the new Sri Lankan government's focus on transparency, good governance, and creating a welcoming business environment. 



Speaking at the 42nd AGM of the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association on Monday (27) she highlighted the importance of a clean, transparent procurement process, a level playing field for all investors, and the honoring of contracts, which are crucial for attracting foreign investment.



Ambassador Chung stressed the need for the private sector to drive growth without being hindered by red tape and excessive regulation. 



She acknowledged Sri Lanka's position as a leader in quality manufacturing and ethical practices, setting a positive example in the global apparel industry. The United States, she affirmed, remains a friend and partner in Sri Lanka's journey towards economic progress.



Ambassador Chung highlighted the priorities set by President Trump to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous, and underscored the U.S. commitment to welcoming more business and investments in the coming years.



She praised the vibrant and diverse U.S. apparel manufacturing sector, noting its remarkable strength and continuous growth.



She emphasized the benefits of establishing operations in the United States, including reduced shipping times, lower tariffs, and the ability to respond swiftly to market demands.



She described investing in the U.S. as a strategic business move that can build a more resilient and competitive future for companies in the global marketplace.
