COLOMBO (News 1st); Deputy Minister of Vocational Education, Nalin Hewage, emphasized the importance of effective human resource management in securing a significant position in the global labor market.
He made these remarks during a program held at the Lanka-German Technical Training Institute in Moratuwa.
Deputy Minister Hewage highlighted the limitations of physical resources in national development, contrasting them with the boundless potential of human resources.
He stated, "We believe that while our physical resources are limited, the quality and potential of our human resources are limitless. Our greatest asset is our people, especially the youth. The current government, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the National People's Power, has placed a strong emphasis on developing this human capital."
He further noted the substantial opportunities available for Sri Lankan labor in the global market, stressing the need to capture a larger share.
"Currently, Sri Lanka earns over USD 7 billion annually from foreign employment, mostly from unskilled labor. Many mothers leave the country to work abroad under challenging conditions. However, by developing our skilled human resources to meet global labor market demands, we can secure a better future for our people and our country. We believe that tomorrow will not be as dark as today," he added.
The event, held to welcome new trainees to the Lanka-German Technical Training Institute, was presided over by Deputy Minister Hewage and attended by various dignitaries.
