Tusker Dheeghadanthu (1) Dies After Contact with Unauthorized Power Line

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Tusker known as "Deeghadanthu (1)" of Kala Wewa tragically lost its life after coming into contact with an unauthorized power line.

According to the Department of Wildlife Conservation, the tusker had moved toward the village following the overflowing of the Kala Wewa reservoir due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Deeghadanthu (1), aged approximately 45 to 50 years, had been residing in the areas surrounding Kala Wewa and the Kahalla - Pallekele Wildlife Sanctuary.
