73 Arrested for Bribery in 10 Months

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption says that 73 suspects were arrested on bribery related charges during the past 10 months.
Among those arrested are 21 police officers, including a Chief Police Inspector, two police Inspectors , a Sub-Inspector, eight Constables, and nine Sergeants.
Additionally, 24 civilians were arrested, as well as three Grama Niladhari officers and a school principal.
The arrests were made for both accepting and soliciting bribes.
