COLOMBO (News 1st); Special transport services will be operational today for voters who traveled to their hometowns for the election, to return to Colombo.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board Ramal Siriwardena says that long-distance bus services will be in operation as well.
He adds that instructions have been given for deploying extra buses if required.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Association Gemunu Wijeratne says that a higher number of private buses have also been deployed today.
The Department of Railways says that special train journeys are also scheduled today, for voters to return to Colombo.
Accordingly, these train services will be operational from Galle, Matara, Beliatta, Badulla and Kandy.
The Department also adds that the Samudradevi train departed Matara at 3.30 am today, while the Hikkaduwa train departed the Galle Railway Station at 4.30 am today.
