67 Arrested for Bribery in the Past Nine Months

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said that 67 individuals have been arrested in connection with bribery incidents over the past nine months.

In a statement, CIABOC revealed that these arrests were made for both accepting and offering bribes.

Among those arrested are 20 police officers, including two police inspectors, one sub-inspector, eight constables, and nine sergeants.

Additionally, 22 civilians were taken into custody during this period.

The Commission also reported that three Grama Niladhari officers were arrested for bribery-related incidents within the same timeframe.

Furthermore, the statement noted that a school principal was among those apprehended.
