Former Ministers Told to Settle Utility Bills and Return Official Homes

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government has issued reminders to former ministers to return their official residences.

A senior official from the ministry stated that only 14 official residences have been returned so far. 

It was noted that a total of 28 official residences had been allocated to former ministers.

The ministry emphasized that the settlement of outstanding electricity and water bills is mandatory when returning the official residences. 

Officials have been instructed to ensure that all bills are paid in full before the residences are handed back to the government.

The Ministry of Public Administration also indicated that legal action will be taken against former ministers who continue to ignore these reminders.
