COLOMBO (News 1st) - DIG P. Ampavila has been appointed as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police overseeing the Criminal Investigation Department.
Previously, he held a supervisory role in the Financial Intelligence Division and led special investigation units at the Central Bank, focusing on pyramid schemes and digital currencies.
The Police Commission also announced several transfers: former DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department M.A.A.R. Premaratne will now head the Northern range of the Western Province.
DIG D.P Chandrasiri, previously in charge of the Galle Division, has been appointed DIG overseeing the Logistics Range.
DIG E.M.G.J. Seram has transitioned from the Community Police and Environmental Protection Range to the DIG of Galle Range.
Meanwhile, DIG Bimshani Jasin Arachchi has moved from police headquarters to lead the Community Police and Environmental Protection Range.
The National Police Commission announced that these changes were made with the full agreement of the Election Commission.
