International Observers to Submit Final Election Report

COLOMBO (News 1st); The final report from international election observers regarding the recent presidential election is scheduled to be handed over to the Election Commission this afternoon.

According to the Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, the international observers will meet with the commission later today. 

Domestic observers have also confirmed that the election was conducted in a very peaceful manner.

Meanwhile, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the National People's Force, will be sworn in as the 9th Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka this morning at the Presidential Secretariat.

In the presidential election held the day before yesterday, Dissanayake secured 5,634,915 votes, which accounts for 42.28% of the total votes cast, in the first count
