Organized Crime Suspected in Deadly Midigama Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); A fatal shooting incident near Goiyapana Bridge in Midigama, Matara, resulted in the death of one individual and left two others injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 AM today.

According to Police Spokesperson DIG & Attorney-at-Law Nihal Talduwa, two assailants on a motorcycle fired a T56 firearm before fleeing the scene.

The deceased has been identified as the owner of a local fish shop. The shooting took place while he was near the fish market with two other individuals.

The injured parties have been admitted to Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment. 

A senior police officer revealed that preliminary information suggests the attack was orchestrated by an criminal based in Dubai.

Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details and apprehend the perpetrators.
