Dengue Cases Surge in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The latest data from the National Dengue Control Unit reveals a concerning rise in dengue cases across Sri Lanka, with Colombo being the most affected district. 



As of midnight on September 17, 2024, the total number of dengue cases reported this year has reached 38,246, with 17 deaths.



Colombo district alone accounts for 24.9% of the total cases, amounting to 9,515. 



Other heavily impacted districts include Gampaha with 4,399 cases (11.5%) and Jaffna with 4,087 cases (10.7%).
