COLOMBO (News 1st); National People's Power (NPP) Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared that September 21 will mark the end of a 76-year political curse in Sri Lanka.

"Sri Lanka was once termed the pearl of the Indian Ocean, as well as the great granary. It was also referred to as one of the greatest world heritages, with a civilization that dates back over 2,500 years," Dissanayake stated.

"However, what has happened now? We have become a country that doesn't receive loans from even a single country. We have become a country that cannot service borrowed debt."

Dissanayake criticized the ruling political groups of the past 76 years, describing them as a curse that has led to national embarrassment on the global stage.

He highlighted the severe hardships faced by the people, including insufficient food, lack of educational facilities for children, medicine shortages, and a lack of future aspirations among the youth.

"The people have endured massive suffering. Over the past 76 years, these rulers have committed wrongs that cannot be taken lightly. However, those rulers have become a curse," he asserted.
