COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission, chaired by R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, has announced the commencement of polling cards distribution across all twenty-five districts. The documents are being delivered to the postal department today, with official polling cards set to reach homes starting tomorrow. This distribution will continue until the 14th of this month.

In a significant move, Sunday, the 8th of this month, has been designated as a special day for the distribution of official polling cards.

On the 4th of September, postal votes can be cast at all District Secretariats, Election Offices, and Police Stations.

Additionally, the marking of postal votes will take place on the 5th and 6th in various government institutions, schools, and security institutions. For those who miss the initial marking days, they can visit the district secretary's office on the 11th and 12th to cast their postal votes.

Ratnayake also issued a stern reminder to all candidates and their supporters to adhere strictly to the Election Act.

He warned against the misappropriation of public property and other illegal activities aimed at promoting candidates, noting that such actions could lead to the cancellation of candidacies, revocation of elected positions, or even imprisonment.
