COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa has pledged to enhance the efficiency of public services through digitization.

Speaking at an election meeting, Rajapaksa highlighted the importance of modern technology in improving government services and reducing bureaucratic delays.

Rajapaksa emphasized that digitization would eliminate the need for young people to wait in long queues for services such as passport issuance. He criticized the rollback of technological advancements and stressed the need for consistent policies across different governments.

"We will make decisions for the country. We will protect the dignity of public service. We will provide government services through digitization. Young people won't need to wait in queues to get passports. There is a lot of technology in the world today. We will introduce that technology," he said.

He also highlighted the importance of passing laws in parliament to make digital public services mandatory, ensuring that public service can operate without political interference.

Rajapaksa assured that these legal provisions and regulations would preserve the dignity of public service and address the challenges faced by the people.
