Former Medical Supply Director Accused of Misleading CID

COLOMBO (News 1st); Additional Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama making submissions in court said that Dr. Kapila Wickramanayake, the former director of the Medical Supply Division and a current bail recipient, had misled the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Deputy Solicitor General Girihagama highlighted that the removal of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation of Sri Lanka from its role in quality control allowed inferior drugs to be imported into the country due to the lack of a proper system. 

This situation has endangered the lives of neurological and cancer patients, with only two out of 25 drug supply organizations providing quality drugs under the Indian Credit Line, she claimed in court.
