Delay Expected on Main Line Following Train Derailment at Maradana Station

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Railways has announced a delay on the main line due to the derailment of a cargo train transporting fuel from Galle at Maradana railway station.

Railway Superintendent (Traffic) M.J. Indipolage said that as a consequence, four platforms at the Maradana station are currently unable to handle trains.

Consequently, delays on the main line are expected.

He also added that the process of removing the derailed train will take some time.

The incident has caused significant damage to the platform at the Maradana railway station.
