Electricity tariff reduced by 22.5%, Consumers to receive revised bills from August.

Colombo (News 1st): PUCSL has announced a reduction in electricity tariff, effective from August. 

PUCSL Chairman Prof. Manjula Fernando said that due to the month being nearly over, adjustments cannot be made for the current period.

Therefore, the Electricity tariff will be reduced by 22.5% effective from today.

Under the new tariff, a household using 30 units will enjoy a Rs. 110 reduction, bringing the total bill down to Rs. 280. 

Similarly, a 60-unit consumption bill of Rs. 1140 will result in a Rs. 440 decrease, with a final bill of Rs. 700. 

A 90-unit consumption bill of Rs. 2800 will be reduced to a final bill of Rs. 1840

And finally, a household consuming 180 units will see a reduction from Rs. 8400 to Rs. 6360 in the bill.

The commission has also approved electricity tariff reductions for places of worship, hotels, and public spaces.
