Sri Lanka Women beat West Indies Women by 4 wickets

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Women beat West Indies Women by 4 wickets in the 1st T20I in Hambantota on Monday (24).

Sri Lanka Women won the toss and elected to field first.

Batting first, West Indies Women posted 134 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Hayley Matthews (c) top scored with 30 runs, while Aaliyah Alleyne chipped in with 26. Qiana Joseph contributed with 20 runs.

Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu picked up four wickets, while Inoshi Priyadharshani bagged three, and Ama Kanchana picked up one wicket.

Chasing 135 runs, Sri Lanka Women got off to a wobbly start as they lost Captain Chamari Athapaththu for just 1 runs.

However, Vishmi Gunaratne and Harshitha Samarawickrama smashed 35 runs each to push Sri Lanka toward victory.

Sri Lanka Women won the game by 4 wickets with 8 balls remaining.
