Health Trade Union Alliance to Withdraw from Duties in Hospitals Island Wide

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Health Trade Union Alliance has made a decision to withdraw from duties in hospitals island-wide as part of their trade union action.

Its co-convener Chanaka Dharmawickrama says the strike was launched due to the failure to issue a circular regarding an increase in allowances, in line with the uniform allowance and the inclusion of 15 health sector groups in the circular to increase the special allowance.

72 Health Trade Unions launched a strike on a provincial basis during the past few days.

72 Health Trade Unions including paramedic staff, nurses, health care assistant staff, health administrative staff, biomedical engineering staff engaged in the trade union strike launched.
