Rambukwella's Bail Hearing Postponed

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Court of Appeal decided to defer the hearing of the writ petition filed for bail by Former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella until May 7th.

The petition seeks to overturn the remand order issued by the Maligakanda Magistrate, which denied bail to Rambukwella.

Additionally, the petition requests an invalidation of the certificate issued by the Assistant Superintendent of Police, related to the accusation under the Public Property Act.

The was initially expected to be announced todat by Justice D. N Samarakoon. The judge clarified that the official announcement of the order would be postponed until the 7th.

The respondents in this petition include the Maligakanda Magistrate, Inspector General of Police, Director of Criminal Investigation Department, and others.

Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama represented the Attorney General during the proceedings, while Keheliya Rambukwella, the petitioner, was represented by President's Counsel Faiz Mustapha.
